Trademark Registration – Classification Guide Class 14 in Japan

I’ve decided to start selling accessories.
First of all, I’ve come up with a stylish brand name for my newly launched earrings, and I’d like to trademark it to prevent others from copying it.

Then you’ll have to remember to designate Class 14, which includes ‘personal ornaments [jewellery, jewelry (Am.)]’!
There are a lot of goods related to precious metal in the class 14. Let’s check them out.

Considering the future product development of accessories, it would be better to designate other goods in class 14 as well.
If they are in the same class, the cost is the same, but I wonder if “hair pins” can also be designated in class 14…?

Class 14 is a classification of precious metals, jewelry, watches, etc.

Class14 includes mainly precious metals, jewelry, personal ornaments, watches, etc.

Precious metals include gold, silver, platinum, iridium, and other rare metals that are difficult to compound.

It may be easier to understand if you associate precious metals with products sold in the accessary and watches sections.

I see, so items related to watches and accessories but without electronics or precious metals or gemstones would be in a different class.

Yes, a separate class should be designated for accessories that do not contain electronics, precious metals or gemstones.

Products whose raw materials are precious metals but whose uses are different

Other goods NOT included in Class 14

I’ve seen hairpins made of pure gold, but “hairpins” aren’t included in Class 14!
It seems that products related to hair ornaments are included in Class 26.
