Trademark Registration　Classification Guide Class 5 in Japan

I’ve decided to start selling dietary supplements.
First of all, I’ve prepared an impactful product name and logo for the new chlorella-based granular supplement, and I’d like to register it as a trademark to prevent others from copying it.

Then don’t forget to designate Class 5 which includes “dietary supplements”!
There are a lot of dietary supplement-related products in Class 5. Let’s check it out.

Considering our future product development, I think it would be better to designate other products in Class 5.
If they are included in the same class, the cost will be the same.
But I wonder if protein-enriched sports beverages can also be designated in Class 5…?

Class 5 is a category of pharmaceuticals and other medical or veterinary preparations.

I see, even if something is related to dietary supplements, if it is not for medical use and classified as “food or beverages,” then it is classified as another class, right?

Yes, we need to designate other classes for these “Meal replacements, dietary foods, and beverages”.

Other goods NOT included in Class 5

• deodorants for human beings or for animals [Class 3]
• support bandages, orthopedic bandages [Class 10]
• synthetic perfumery [Class 3]
• protein-enriched sports beverages [Class 32]

Protein-enriched sports beverages are not included in class 5!
